NEW (please bookmark this) Home Page

Welcome to the San Francisco Section of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers home page. We'll keep you abreast of television, computer, and motion picture engineering activities happening around the San Francisco Bay Area.

We've been having a problem with bounced SMPTEsf email notices. After using the same mail list server for the past 12 years, some of the major ISPs have begun to "blacklist" incoming mail from select mail servers based solely on the server's IP address. These major organizations have been bouncing our emailed notices: AT&T (including SBC and PacBell), Comcast, Microsoft (including Windows Live Hotmail,Hotmail, and MSN), mail hosted by Outblaze Limited (40 million subscribes) and Godaddy, and we are still uncovering more daily.

We can no longer be sure that our email notifications reach you. While we work on this issue from several angles to fix the problem, please check this website often, especially if you haven't received a meeting notice recently.

To be sure you continue to receive our email notices, change your spam setting or add us, "webmaster@SMPTEsf.org", to your addressbook along with our mailserver, smpte-sf@broadcast.net that is hosted by broadcast.net from IP:72.244.107.130. If you know of any mailserver blocking our notices, we welcome your email with suggestions and technical details at webmaster@SMPTEsf.org .

If you did not receive the email for the recent meeting, please go the the email server link below and reinstate your email, or re-add your email address to the list.

Important! Keep in touch with us -- be the first to know about new meetings and changes -- Subscribe to our email list today!

MEETINGS UPCOMING

28 May 2009: “The Technology of Current TV: A Unique Business/Engineering Model”

If you, or your company has Film/Audio/Video/Computer display technology you would like to present to the SMPTE, San Francisco Section, please let someone on the SMPTEsf Board of Managers know you are interested. We are willing to work with area companies to disseminate information.
Email your suggestions for meetings to: Meeting.suggestions (at) SMPTEsf.org

Note: Your managers are working on meetings for the next 6 or more months. Topics are tentatively chosen, meeting coordinators selected and tentatively companies and speakers have to be contacted and agree to a role. A suitable venue must be booked. After most of that is arranged, speakers get called out of town on that date, the venue is preempted, etc, etc. While we try our best to keep you informed of future meetings, we must withhold details until we are reasonably certain we can bring all these arrangements together. PLEASE check here for last-minute changes to location, times, speakers, etc. just before you leave for a meeting.
