About our speakers:
Ioan Allen, Sr. Vice President
Ioan Allen joined Dolby Laboratories in 1969, and was in large part responsible for the origination and development of the Dolby Stereo film program. He is a Fellow of the SMPTE, AES and BKSTS and is active in U.S. and world standards organizations. He is past president of the International Theatre Equipment Association and past Engineering Director - Motion Pictures for the SMPTE. He is an Adjunct Professor at The University of Southern California School of Cinema-Television and holds an honorary Doctorate Degree of Science from the University of Nottingham. Ioan was the 1985 recipient of the Samuel L. Warner Award for contributions to motion picture sound and has received Scientific and Engineering Awards from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 1979, 1987 and 2001, and an Oscar in 1989.
