    About our speakers:

    Ioan Allen, Sr. Vice President
    Ioan Allen joined Dolby Laboratories in 1969, and was in large part responsible for the origination and development of the Dolby Stereo film program. He is a Fellow of the SMPTE, AES and BKSTS and is active in U.S. and world standards organizations. He is past president of the International Theatre Equipment Association and past Engineering Director - Motion Pictures for the SMPTE. He is also an Adjunct Professor at The University of Southern California School of Cinema-Television. He was the 1985 recipient of the Samuel L. Warner Award for contributions to motion picture sound. Ioan received Scientific and Engineering Awards from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 1979, 1987 and 2001, and an Oscar in 1989.

    Tim Partridge, Sr. Vice President and General Manager, Professional Division
    Tim Partridge oversees the company's pioneering of new technologies, products and services for the cinema and broadcast industries throughout the world. A 20-year Dolby veteran, Tim has played an instrumental role helping European and Asian film-making communities adopt Dolby SR and Dolby Digital, in addition to assisting filmmakers in Europe, Hong Kong, India and China migrate from mono to multi-channel and from analog to digital audio. Tim is leading Dolby's entry into the Digital Cinema market.

    David DesRoches is the Group Leader for Cinema Software in Dolby's Professional Engineering department. He joined Dolby in 1998 and has been involved with the Dolby D-cinema project since 2001, most notably as architect and project leader for the Show Manager software.

    Tom Scott has been involved with sound for motion pictures since 1978, employed at American Zoetrope, Dolby Laboratories, Saul Zaentz Film Center and Skywalker Sound. He has been the recipient of two Oscars, Academy Awards for Best Achievement in Sound, for the films "The Right Stuff" and "Amadeus". He currently serves as the General Manager and Chief Technology Officer of EDNET, the Entertainment Digital Network in San Francisco, a company he founded in 1992 with several other ex-Lucasfilm colleagues. Tom Scott is also currently serving as Engineering Director, Motion Pictures, for the Society of Motion Picture Television Engineers (SMPTE).

    Pierre Lemieux has been involved in the DC28 Technology Committee since its early days. He has co-chaired the DC28.4 Committee on content protection and has been the editor and primary contributor on key packaging and security specifications. Pierre works in the Tech Strategy group at Dolby Laboratories where he focuses on next generation cinema and consumer technologies. He received his Physics B.Sc. from McGill University and Physics Ph.D. from the University of California in Los Angeles.
