    The overview will cover the evolution of DTV audio first from mono to stereo,then from stereo to 4 channel surround, and recently to 5.1 channel surroundas it applies to current advancements in multichannel audio production,distribution and emissions. Emphasis will be placed on production and distributiontechniques and the use of metadata.

    Gene Radzik has been an audio production specialist and applicationsengineer at Dolby Laboratories since 1996. Prior to joining Dolby, Geneworked in post production for television and music production in Nashvilleand Chicago. Over the past 4 years he has worked internationally on variousprojects including; internet audio, Dolby Surround production support (television,home video, and video games), initial DVD-Video production support, DTVmultichannel education and production support, film print mastering, andmultichannel audio production and technical support for the new DVD-Audioformat. Recent production assistance on DVD-Audio discs include; WarnerBrother's "Deep Purple," and "Foreigner" albums in MLP and Dolby Digital5.1. He is an active member of AES, SMPTE, and NARAS. Mr. Radzik receivedhis Bachelor of Science degree in Recording Engineering/Mass Communicationsfrom Middle Tennessee State University.
