The State Of Storage In the World Of Digital Media

Speaker: C. Jason Mancebo, Korsade Technologies

Date & time: Wednesday, 21 July 2004

Meeting organizer: C. Jason Mancebo, SMPTEsf Tresurer

Program:

From the first days of directly attached SCSI disks to the current IDE, SAN, and NAS offerings, the storage-vendor pool has both gone ahead of the critical high-performance needs of the industry and gone back to realize the errors of its ways to better serve time-critical and performance demands.

Jason will discuss the state of storage as it relates to the broadcast, production and post, video on demand, and related digital-media arenas. He'll review current technologies, ranging from collaborative heterogeneous SANs and application-specific NAS solutions to the newest devices rolling out of labs and into facilities, including switched fibre-channel "loops" and relational meta-data information lifecycle management.

Join us on Wednesday, July 21st at 6:30 PM for no-host drinks and dinner, or at 7:30 for his talk. Our "pizza meetings" always include a freewheeling Q&A session— informative and enjoyable!

Storage technologist C. Jason Mancebo is the president and co-founder of Korsade Technologies in Silicon Valley. He holds six patents and patents-pending in the field of storage. He currently serves as the treasurer of the SMPTE San Francisco Section.
