SMPTE NO-HOST "NPP" MEETING (DINNER OPTIONAL)

  • Date & time: Thursday, 2 March 2006
  • Meeting organizer:
  • Program:

Having noticed that people enjoy talking to each other as much or more than whatever else takes place at a section meeting, I thought an open discussion about the state of our rapidly changing industry—and the state of the SMPTEsf Section and maybe the entire national organization—would be a good rationale for a meeting. Oh, yes, NPP stands for "No Power Points". As we approach yet another NAB, watching traditional video technology—and their manufacturers—being loaded onto dump trucks headed for the Smithsonian, we need some guidance from you, our members, on future programs for the SF Section. How can we better serve the information needs of both old and new members? For many, video and audio consists of only ones and zeros, but eyes and ears are still analog devices. The SMPTE SF Section must serve all masters. This is your chance to make suggestions for future meetings and share with us your industry contacts to make those meetings happen. This is also a chance to eat food at Harry's that our doctors or spouses may normally put off limits! Roy Trumbull
