Meeting organizer: Gary Youngs, Panasonic Broadcastand Digital Systems6:30-9:30 PM Ongoing no-host dinner and drinks 7:30-9:30 PM Program (concurrent with dinner)
To encourage more of this kind of interaction among members and guests, the San Francisco Section will hold some of its meetings in the more relaxedatmosphere of restaurants with large meeting rooms. In this simplified,reduced-pressure environment, one of our many Bay Area A/V/film expertswill make a presentation on a product or an issue about which he knowsa great deal. Gear demos will be limited, to spare the speaker and themeeting organizer from the huge job of putting together the large, formalmeetings we will continue to have once a quarter at big venues. In caseno speaker is available or is unable to appear at the last minute -- bothhave happened! -- we know you'll still enjoy participating in a spontaneousdiscussion of industry issues that we all face. These events are also agreat place for you to get advice on technical problems you're facing inyour own work.
We're kicking off these new occasional "intimate" monthly meetings witha talk by SMPTE-SF manager Gary Youngs, a fixture of our local video scenefor many years and now the Western Region manager for Panasonic Broadcastand Digital Systems.
Gary will discuss with us the evolution of video here in the Bay Area-- much of which he's personally experienced! -- and some of the latesttrends in digital, culminating in DVCPRO and the other DV-family formats. The audience is invited to "jump in" to the discussion at ANY time to askquestions and add their observations at length. We think you'll enjoy theresult.
If you wiah, you can buy your dinner and drinks in the Harry's Hofbraucafeteria and join us in the reserved room to the left of the main door.No purchase is necessary to attend the meeting. You can arrive at any timeand you are welcome to bring your food right into the meeting while it'sin progress.
